Programs and Activities

Share a brief tour of our Ministry in Christ

Our Music Program includes both a Chancel Choir and two Bell Choirs. The Chancel Choir, an important element of the worship experience, sings at all communion services. Choir rehearsal lasts one hour beginning at 7 pm each Thursday from September through May. The choir seeks to add more voices, giving us greater flexibility in selecting choir music. Don’t be shy, come join us at rehearsal and participate in this rewarding worship activity. Our Bell Choirs are growing in both popularity and musical accomplishment. Come join us as a new bell ringer.

Our Savior’s Prayer Circle responds to requests for prayers for all in need, regardless of membership. Please contact Pastor’s office at 227-3066 if you wish to place a loved one on the Prayer Circle. We invite you to join our 18 member circle.

Sand Dollars is the women’s group at Our Savior. We are affiliated with the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Chesapeake District and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. All women of the church are invited to attend our meetings held at 10 am on the 4th Tuesday of each month, except June and July. Christ centered programs are presented by our members, as well as guest speakers. We bring a sandwich to the meetings and hostesses serve beverages and dessert. We have many activities for you to explore.

Men’s Prayer Breakfast and Bible Study. The Bible Study is led by Pastor on Wednesday mornings at 8 am. Sessions are held year around. The study consists of a review of several verses from the assigned chapters, with emphasis on the New Testament. Classes are open to all men who wish to participate. The “breakfast” consists of coffee and rolls, which are provided by the members of the class. Our knowledge of the Bible varies, but we are all here to learn more. We have about 25 regular attendees. The group is upbeat and lively. Please come join us.

"KICS" (Kids in Christ Service) is our new youth group for middle school students (grades 7th and 8th).  Currently we meet monthly for fun, fellowship, bible study and service projects.

Selah Bible Study Group. This Women’s Bible class is sponsored by the Sand Dollars, and meets for 1 hour at 10 am on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month from September through May. Each May we end our season with an “Ask the Pastor” session.

Caregivers is a monthly support group for those who are actively involved in taking care of spouses, parents and friends. It is a place of sharing, study, and prayer for those who have the “joyful burden” of loving others through illness or recuperation.

Shepherds assist the Pastor and Elders in keeping in touch with all our members to insure that your needs are being met. If you have a concern about church, an illness or problem you wish to share, your Shepherd is there to help. Your Shepherd will stay in contact with you by phone. Our objective is to strengthen our church community in Christ through active communication with each other.

Grief Support Group. Open to church members and community residents who have suffered the death of a loved one. The group meets once a week for six weeks in the Spring and Fall. The meetings are facilitated by a professional grief counselor, and are meant to encourage one another, as we walk through the grief journey.

Good Samaritan Fund. The “Good Sam” Fund assists our members, and our neighbors in the Lewes - Rehoboth Beach communities in meeting financial obligations they are not able to handle. Usually, the appeals are referred to us by the Georgetown Social Services for Sussex County. We are joined by other local churches and agencies enabling us to share expenses. This outreach follows our Lord’s command to “Love one another”.

Lend-a-Hand. The Lewes - Rehoboth Association of Churches (LRAC) sponsors the Lend-a-Hand program. It is designed to support the needy in our community. The LRAC Thrift Shop, located on Route 1 behind Jiffy Lube, seeks all kinds of donations, with the proceeds from their sales going to assist the needy. In addition, cash donations, such as the weekly contributions from our Men’s Bible Study and the Children’s Sunday School, go to help support Lend-a-Hand.

Pastor’s Crafters/Quilters meet on the second and fourth Thursday of every month at noon. You don't have to be "crafty" to join us: our projects are easy and fun.

The Model Train Club generally meets on Thursday evenings from 7 to 8 PM (September to May) in the Basement of the Parish House where there is a fantastic model train layout set up. We also have several Open Houses during the year when we invite everyone to come and enjoy the trains.
